It gets its name from the scissor-like mechanism " interlinked, folding supports in an " X pattern " that expands and contracts to lift the platform.

 How It Works:

• A hydraulic cylinder is filled with fluid (usually oil).

• As pressure is applied to the fluid, it pushes the cylinders piston.

• This action forces the scissor arms apart, lifting the platform.

• Releasing the pressure allows the platform to lower under control.
